FAMILY ACUPUNCTURE ORIENTAL HERBAL MEDICINE
Is acupuncture painful?
Acupuncture needles are very thin, usually about the same size as a human hair. Insertions are placed just below the skin’s surface, which some patients find painless. The level of comfort depends on the patient.
Are acupuncture needles sterile/safe?
Acupuncture needles are pre-sterilized & are disposed of after each session
How does acupuncture work?
Acupuncture works by releasing the body’s energy & creating “Chi” (vital energy) or balance. There are 14 channels & over 365 points on a meridian scale or diagram that shows which points on the body are linked to each organ. Needles are placed based on these points. In addition to treatment, your doctor may recommend herbal supplements or tea to progress healing.
How long are acupuncture sessions & how often should I have treatments?
The number of sessions depends on the needs of the patient. Patients are advised that long-term results take time. Typically, a minimum of three sessions is recommended.
Will my insurance cover my treatments?
You must check with your insurance carrier. In some instances, insurance providers have reimbursed patients for acupuncture sessions.
